After leaving Siena we visited Monteriggione Castle where we met several people from England also riding bikes on the Via Francigena.
From there we rode to San Gimignano - which was packed with tourists. The hilltop village is famous for the number of medieval towers that are still standing.
Too many tourists in the narrow streets
Several of the towers off the main square
It is also famous for having a gelato shop which has won the world championships of gelato making several times.
From there we rode to our stop for the day in Gambassi Terme.

Wow, can't believe how crowded these places are! So was the gelato a world champion in your book?
